Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What age groups do you teach?

We teach kids and adults ages 12 and up.

How long are the sessions?

The in-person sessions at the studio are 1-2 hours long. Remote/online sessions are 1 or 2 hours.

Where do the sessions take place?

Our in-person sessions take place at our One Way Gallery studio (140 Boon Street, Narragansett, RI 02804) – studio 11. Remote sessions can happen anywhere!

Do I need to bring my own supplies for in-person sessions?

No! You do not need to bring your own supplies unless you insist on using that Bob Ross paint set from Grandma. If you really want to bring your own supplies, we won’t stop you provided they are not unsafe to use.

What do I need for remote/online sessions?

Click here for our remote/online course supply list for “Drawn to Discover”. For other courses, fill out the registration form and we will send you a supply list based on the course you’re interested in.

How much do the courses cost?

Our courses range from $20 for a single session and up to $112 for a 6-week journey. Click here for our courses

What kinds of art courses do you teach?

We currently teach drawing, painting and 3D design (non-digital). Don’t see a course that you like? Contact us!

Do I need to be “good at art?”

Nope! Rhody Arts loves working with raw material. Part of our mission is stripping away the negative predisposition that prevents so many people from reaching their artistic goals, or any goals for that matter. Part of what we do is help you unlearn the self-limited “fixed” mindset. Despite what you may have heard from that 7th grade art teacher, you DO have potential and you might be surprised after a few sessions what happens when we get “comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

I’m already “good at art”, why do I need lessons?

Our professional instructors are able to help you improve you technical and conceptual skills no matter your level of proficiency.

Can I bring guests to the sessions?

Unfortunately, space is limited in the studio and we can not accommodate friends, family or rescue dogs. However, the gallery downstairs has limited seating if you want to hang around while your artist is in their session. There are also some nice restaurants nearby! Oh yeah, the beach is very close too!

What if I need to cancel a session?

We understand things come up that are out of our control and that’s why we have a free 24-hour cancellation policy. Please contact us if you can’t make it and we’ll get you rescheduled. After 24 hours we are unable to refund you.

Do you offer group or sibling discounts?

Yes! Please let us know how many people are in your group and we will offer you a discount.

Do you offer a free trial lesson?

Yes! We offer 1 free trial lesson to people ages 13 and up who are currently living in Rhode Island either online or in-person in drawing or painting. The free lesson is 1 hour long and you don’t need any supplies. For remote drawing sessions, click here for the recommended supply list.
